On New Year's Eve, my friends and I went to the square to watch fireworks. The square was already packed — everyone waiting for the countdown.
It was very cold; I wore two sweaters and a thick coat but still felt cold. A friend bought hot milk tea to warm our hands.
Near midnight, everyone counted down together: 'Five, four, three, two, one!' Then the sky suddenly lit up.
Fireworks shot up one after another — red, gold, green, purple, in all kinds of shapes.
Some looked like flowers, some like stars, others like waterfalls. Every time fireworks bloomed, people gasped in amazement.
I took out my phone and recorded a lot of videos, but the phone couldn't capture the beauty as my eyes saw it. The fireworks lasted about twenty minutes.
Afterward, friends wished each other: 'Happy New Year!' At that moment, I felt that even though I'm far from home, being with friends is also warm.
